If you are willing to pay shipping for your musical instrument, then you can send it here and we will check if our USB floppy device can work for you at no charge.
We had originally sold the USB Floppy emulator for commercial embroidery machines; but the general response has been very strong for other market segments as well, particularly CNC and other industrial equipment, so we had made efforts to make it work out for them. While many CNC customers have purchased the product, the moderate amount of music related inquiries have not led to many sales; compatibility is a big issue with the customers, and the non-DOS nature of many keyboards make any promise of functionality of a very iffy nature. Hence the offer; if you are willing to pay shipping, we can check it out and make an effort to get it to work. While we don't necessarily recommend that you send anything you consider a personal treasure through public shipping, if you do have a keyboard or whatnot that you want to send then it can get here in good order with enough bubble wrap. Our location is Fort Worth, Texas, and at our heart we are a repair lab (for embroidery machines) so we are well used to working with electronic equipment. Ideally, your instrument is dos/windows compatible and it is a straightforward configuration of the dipswitches on the USB floppy. If not, for non-DOS formats, there is a chance our floppy-image variant can work instead; which means that you can copy the whole "disk" to windows as an image-file for backup purposes, or just use one stick permanently as the "disk", or use our optional file-chooser to have many "disks" on the one USB and swap them in and out. But again, first we must establish if basic compatibility is possible (or possible through an update later). If you do decide to send, make sure any power bricks are with it, and give us some idea of how to access the floppy function; a few written instructions, or a manual, or internet link to manuals/instructions. If possible, let us know beforehand via email, and don't forget your contact information. Contact sales AT plrelectronics.com if interested. --Chris |
